The Malaysian market has seen positive growth of baked goods due to the products being more and more consumed at either breakfast, tea breaks or even for lunch in place of rice and noodles. Many of Gen Y and younger generations, who have been largely exposed to the western cultures, have acquired the habit of eating bread and drinking coffee, and are increasingly accepting bread as a staple food.

PROBLEM STATEMENT    


·      Consumers find it hard to get good quality, delicious and fresh bakery products as the bakeries nowadays are focusing on their profit margin instead of the quality of the products.

 

·       Too much resources is squandered in terms of manpower for the hiring of cashiers and shopkeepers.

 

·     People who want to start their own bakery business face roadblocks as they do not have the knowledge, kitchen capacity and the necessary capital to kickstart their business.


 

SOLUTION 


Haruka aims to become Malaysia’s leading Japanese home-taste bakery. On top of producing great quality bakeries, it  also aims to leverage technology such as AI Kiosk and Mobile Apps to expand its market share so that more people can enjoy its bakeries. The deployment of such technologies are aimed to improve customers’ buying experiences, and in the meantime to reduce staff and operation’s cost. Besides, these technologies also open up its doors to allow people who want to start their own business to invest in an AI kiosk with low starting costs.

Haruka is offering Redeemable Convertible Preference Shares (“RCPS”) to all potential investors through CrowdPlus.asia platform. The RCPS has a maturity period of 3 years and it offers cumulative dividend at the rate of 8% per annum.

Lee Kok Chiang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Mr Lee is the Co-Founder & CEO of Haruka Bakery. He was a Managing Director of a TM’s and a Dutch joint venture Company and a Country Manager of an Australian listed company. From IT to the Bakery Industry and with his passion and enthusiasm on F&B, KC is responsible for the growth strategy and A&P of Haruka Bakery.




Tan Shin NgeeChief Operating Officer (COO)

Ms Tan is the Co-Founder and COO of Haruka Bakery. She has over 12 years experience in the IT sector. From IT executive turned to bakery owner, she enjoys bringing in an assortment of freshly baked goods for the customers. Shin Ngee is managing the entire operation to make sure Haruka Bakery is running as smoothly as it possibly can.



 


Karen Choy, Product Director

Ms Karen is the Product Director of Haruka Bakery. She was born in Hong Kong, living in Malaysia for 22 years. She was a Senior System Analyst & Programming engineer for 10 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science, Australia. Pioneer in founding Haruka due to her love & sensible taste bud in food. Karen overlooks the kitchen operations and manages the production and recipes for the bakery. 



 


Cheong Shin Chi, Head of Digital Multimedia 

Ms Cheong is the Head of Digital Multimedia. She has more than 2 years of experience in retail business and key member of management team in Haruka. With comprehensive PA experience, she is a highly trained manager in handling customers. Shin Chi is a dedicated, hardworking & responsible young lady that handles the daily operations, and the order for outlets, with 5 team members working under her.




Zackson Loh, Chief Baker

Mr Zackson is the Chief Baker of Haruka Bakery. He has over 9 years of experience in the baking industry. He graduated from Feng Chia University Taichung, Taiwan with a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering. During his study in Taiwan, Zackson has explored and discovered his love and passion in pastry and breads. Therefore he spent 3 years in Taiwan and learned the culture of the pastry industry overseeing daily operations, the order for 2 outlets, with 5 team members working under her.




Wong Lei Hou, Head of Cake Division

Mr Wong is the Head of Cake Division. He has over 4 years experience in baking Cakes. He acquired his baking skills from one of the finest Cake masters in Malaysia for 3 years. Lei Hou started to discover his passion & love of baking at 18 years old. He further enhanced and improved his skills in one of the top-10 cafes in KL  before deciding to join Haruka.
